Every year our church we take a Sunday to honour those who are graduating from high school. Every year people say how fast the time went. It does not seem that long ago that these young people were kids running around the church. They were the ones learning verses and doing the concerts. Now they are grown up and we are blessed to have been there with them.
Gathering to Worship
The youth opened the service with a couple of their favourite worship songs.
You can view as it is sung by Chris Tomlin.
Presentation to Graduates
We then some time to make a presentation to each of the graduates. Jean Haughn presented to her granddaughter, Madison Prosser. Susan Lohnes presented to Caitlyn Wile. Betty Lohnes presented to Lauren Greenough. There were some sharing of memories as each one presenting looked back at times shared with each of the graduates. Each of the graduates were given a gift of a study Bible from the church. Click on one of the pictures below for larger view.
The youth then sang another song as a special. Seeing that it was also Father’s Day, the song was appropriately called “Good, Good Father.” You can see it below, also sung by Chris Tomlin.
Words of Wisdom
The topic of the message was “Wisdom for the Fork in the Road.” When Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal on Mt. Carmel, he asked the people, “How long are you going to waver between two opinions?” Waver means to hop or dance. Elijah was basically asking, “How long are you going to hop on one foot and then the other, trying to take both forks in a road?” If God is truly God, then all of us need to serve him.
The time concluded with everyone gathering for a potluck dinner and special graduation cake. What is a celebration without some food?
We pray for you, graduates, that you may you delight yourself in God as you journey down the road of life.
