Discovering God Together on the South Shore of Nova Scotia

Everybody Wants To Rule The World

Governments serve gods. This is true of every government there ever has been and there is today. Whether it is the person voting, the party, or the candidate, no individual is morally neutral. You can and should have separation of church and government, but it is impossible to have separation of faith and politics. Both involve saying who is worthy to rule and judge. Politics reveals our worship.

All our lives are political because they are in a relation to King Jesus and his claims on our lives. The public square is a battleground of gods, but the fundamental battle is always against the God and his Son, Jesus Christ. Our politics and worship must unite around Jesus Christ.

So Ahab sent word throughout all Israel and assembled the prophets on Mount Carmel. Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people said nothing.
