They [the Israelites in the wilderness] all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. (1 Corinthians 10:3-4)
The wilderness is a difficult place. God brought his people in Old Testament through the wilderness and provided for them, but it was a place where they were struggled to trust God. They were tempted to rebel against him.
When they found themselves without water they proceeded to put God on trial, They accused God of neglecting to provide, protecting them, and failing to be present with them. Since God wasn’t around they figured they would just stone Moses in his place, since they had already judged and sentenced God.
God did answer through his prophet. God in his mercy took the judgement his people deserved upon himself. God was there when Moses struck the rock and water ran out. Find out what the Bible means when it says “that rock was Christ.” Also, what can we do when life disappoints?
